The church of St. Maria, whose foundation dates back to the 12th or 13th century, already appears in the ancient ecclesiastical list of 1300 indicated as a Sanctuary already dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. The church of Santa Maria and Santo Stefano rises along the Aneva valley, halfway up the slope between the watershed ridge between Reno and Panaro and the Reno valley. Of Baroque style, it has a tripartite façade which denounces the internal scansion of the volumes. The interior, a barrel-vaulted hall with recesses, is divided into five irregular bays with four side chapels interspersed with smaller niches. The presbytery, with a quadrangular plan, has a cross vault.
