The Monzone

The tower of Monzone, which with that of Poggiolo was probably part of the defensive network of the castle of Roffeno, probably dates back to the end of the thirteenth century or the first half of the fourteenth century. The complex still retains the traces of the walls and a vast gateway. Monzone was the vacation spot of the painter Giorgio Morandi in the summers from 1934 to 1938. Here he painted 32 of his works.
